Hi to everyone; today it is our birthday here at easy treesie – Crann; we are TREE years old! (Next year my husband says we will be FIR!) There have been modest celebrations with my home-made elderberry cordial which has turned out to be a big hit; my son pronounces it just like Ikea’s so it must be good! We have been due to have a party however people are coming and going a lot this week with the Bloom festival and the LEAF-ing cert state exams going on so we will have an official birthday (like HRH Queen Elizabeth’s next weekend )sometime when we can round up our usual volunteers.
The high point of the day was joining people from all over the world at the online ceremony where we pass-out as Laudate Si volunteers. Today is the 4th anniversary of this call to care for our common home by the Pontiff. I got to tell all the participants what we were doing here, planting our million trees and I was asked for the link! The ceremony today was a prayerful one, see below and we added our own Irish prayer, ours of course is an ecumenical project for all faiths and none. The smallest child recognises the need to keep the “nest” clean! Looking forward to receiving my certificate next week which will go on the fridge with my very touching one from the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation for my services to education to date. Perhaps when I get my home environment back ship-shape they can get a nice wooden frame, I am sitting with a pile of press clippings to be carefully stored (what a very nice task) as I shall be visiting the Bank of America Merrill Lynch in July and will need to show off what we have done. Yes, they are helping us out, along with that excellent organisation Global Giving. It is so exciting and just what we need, a little hand with putting our strategy together. In other news Joe Barry of Crann has put together a lovely article about our project for our upcoming magazine, more excitement. The story of this project really. Great to meet so many old friends at the Bloom festival this week like GIY who gave us such great support finding space for our modest orchards in Kilkenny, they had such a lovely display. It has been one long celebration of people co-operating to plant for the planet. Go raibh miliún maith agaibh go léir! Or shall we say a trillion thanks! P.S. they have asked me back to hear author @JoshtromKureethadam discuss his new book – click on link https://litpress.org/Products/6363
on Laudate Si on June 18th; looking forward to it – with the PARLIAMENT OF THE WORLD’S RELIGIONS. Cool title.
