You don’t need a diploma to dig a hole!- Wangari Maathai

I only saw this video for the first time at the weekend. It’s about an hour long and is as fresh as if it were made this week. My favourite quote; when asked by the foresters whether her group had diplomas in order to plant trees, her answer was that all they needed was to dig a hole and you didn’t need a diploma for that!

Her warning about the importance of improving the earth by tree planting and the dangers of civil strife when resources are not abundant leading to war and strife ring out clear on this day of Holocaust memorial. We have taken part in the Holocaust commemorative Crocus Project https://hetireland.org/programmes/crocus-project/

and underplanted some of our trees with yellow crocuses in that school initiative. Perhaps you would like to do the same?
