And we are off; in the LEAF of course, packed to the gills!
First Light on Paddy’s Hill.
It’s the “Before” picture; the Fingal team has been busy!
Tree-mendous prep by Fingal’s operations department
Our span. new. children’s. spades. Wow.
They do look very, very smart. Our local dog and our visiting Cork dog (in red, of course) have come along to admire.
Ship shape here beside the sea.
So we have two busy days ahead!
Here come the Climate Heroes, it is just bright enough to plant trees. An early start for all. Thanks to the excellent Malahide Coaches who handled our complex logistics in fine style and did not even make a fuss when we all sailed off for hot chocolate and cookies ten minutes late (we were having so much fun…)
ok we have missed a bit; more pictures to follow. The schools are busy putting up their pictures on their school websites. But here are the students from the Afforestation Project in their very smart uniforms, now just a little muddy after the morning session on Day 2 and last of the volunteer team who stayed back to “Leave no Trace” (except of course for a new Holly woodland!)
Thank you Gourmet Food Parlour! Fabulous hot chocolate with marshmallows and home made cookies. They warmed up not just the children but the volunteers too. Here are some of the ones who lingered for the chat and to pat ourselves on the back.
In fact it is so nice here, for a second day in a row a now totally different team of volunteers are staying on for a lunch. A tree army marches on its stomach after all. Hungry work going up and down Paddy’s Hill!
